What's Happening

November 3rd, about 25% of the people of New Hampshire stopped by a polling station and committed a vote; 2/3 of them (about 17% of those she will claim a mandate to govern) for Jeanne Shaheen, a Democrat whose respect for individual freedom is not visible. At least three voters chose myself; and it may be that a few hundred others did the same. When the government gets round to counting, the actual total will no doubt be published for posterity.

One small but valuable result of my campaign: the LPNH did not recover Ballot Status on the back of a promise to increase taxes. That means there remains a small chance that it will return to its senses and principles another day.

75% of the population, anyway, preferred None of the Above; and that's an excellent second choice to yr hmbl srvnt. Even so, it would have been nice to have been propelled to the Corner Office, so I could immediately terminate all State taxes, prevent all illegal seizures of property by, for example, the IRS - so killing the Income Tax stone dead - and otherwise keeping the many useful promises I made on other Pages here. Too bad. I hope the rot has not gone so deep that the war for liberty is lost, but it may be so. At least, the war to win it through the voting process looks pretty sick. Why, this election even said voters don't care that the country is being led by a perjurer!

So maybe it's time to look for other ways to get free, starting with #1. Visit www.TakeLifeBack.com/oft.htm to see one of them.

October 29th, I sent out my final Press Release before the Election, and took space in it to endorse Brian Christeson's excellent run for US Senate. He has it a bit wrong on the Income Tax, and he remains a member of the Formerly- Libertarian Party of NH, but his material is crackerjack. Vote for him!

Thanks to all who have supported me so far, and please operate the EWM system one more time before Tuesday. I'll e-mail a suggested text on 10/30, or you can use the sample found via this page here.

October 17th saw a sad event, peripheral to this campaign but connected: the LPNH convened and members voted, in effect, to make it a non-libertarian party. They did so by declining to enforce the published criteria for LPNH membership. It follows that anyone can now join and believe and say what he likes.

My rival Ken Blevens as you will know is proposing inter alia to quadruple taxes on about 40,000 NH property owners, which is obviously a major initiation of force, contrary to his membership certification. Yet not a single LPNHer voted to expel him. Therefore, the LPNH is LINO: Libertarian in name only. I walked out in disgust and slammed the door behind me. LPNH, RIP.

Ken has the great merit of sincerity. Although clearly anti-libertarian, he has passionately wanted to repeal the "current use" tax (ie, repeal the tax break and so quadruple taxes) for six years. He's a Populist, but he sticks to his principle, wrong though it is. The leadership and membership of the LPNH does not even have that excuse; they are a bunch of pragmatic, unprincipled wimps and if the future of freedom depends on that lot, we are in very deep trouble.

But fortunately, it doesn't. You can start here in this Site, by exploring the large-scale increase in liberty that this campaign will bring if widely publicized, and then doing your part to publicize it.

The pace hotted up in September. I'm issuing one Press release a week, each preceded by a suggested "forwardable" letter for supporters, on a linked theme, for the "electronic word of mouth" promotional system.

Theoretically, one such letter, forwarded by a handful with the request to forward to another handful of friends, would reach everyone in NH on the Net in a matter of days. The reasons for repeating the exercise is (a) possible overkill and (b) to counter the natural shortage of Round Tuits.
