Enterprise

As well as your support, I want your mind! It is enormously important that you clear out the poison that 12 years of government schooling have implanted in your thinking and economics is the place to start.

Free-market economics is the basis of free enterprise and free enterprise is the engine of prosperity; the Principle of self ownership is not only rational, not only morally right, but also: it works!

So please do some reading and learning. An excellent place to start is the Foundation for Economic Education where you can buy for example:

Another fine introductory work is Irwin Schiff's "How an Economy Grows", via (800) TAX-NOMO.

Greed

Self-interest is the driving motivation behind all wealth creation, and as Ayn Rand famously observed, such self-interest is a "virtue". This conflicts with traditional Judeo-Christian morality; but she was right.

Pursuit of one's own happiness (greed) is what life is for - as acknowledged in the Declaration of Independence. Most of us pursue happiness in the form of wealth, and that is what makes a society prosper - IF there is no impediment, set by government. In a free market, all transactions happen under the terms of explicit, voluntary contracts between the parties concerned and those contracts form the only rules the society needs.

Free enterprise produces wealth even when it is only partly free; the degree of freedom in countries around the world correlate very, very closely with their GDP per capita. That is why the Soviet economy collapsed while the American one prospered; Russians were not lazier than Americans, they were just much less free. More impediments to enterprise were imposed in Moscow than were imposed in Washington; so fewer life decisions could be taken by those who rightfully owned the lives in question.

What I Will Do

Elect me, and I will remove the regulations that stifle enterprise and so perpetuate poverty. Congress may or may not repeal the library of laws that impose them, but there will be no tax money to pay the salaries of their administrators so they will become unenforcible anyway. Thus, the Federal Government will no longer string regulatory trip-wires to prosperity all over the economy. Except for the obstacles retained by State governments, America will be a land of free enterprise and therefore of maximum prosperity for all.

The result will be far better than "just" the increase in personal wealth that will immediately follow the abolition of taxes; 200 million creative Americans will be set loose to invent and exchange and work in whatever ways their ingenuity and self interest may lead them. Even former government employees, after a few months' radical re-assessment of their lives, will enter the market as productive players; we can be sure of that, for such honest living is always preferable to starvation. Swords will be beaten into ploughshares - defense will be an individual matter, not that of a bloated military-industrial complex, and so that significant part of the economy will produce goods people want to buy instead of killing-equipment that only government buys.

The enterprise of justice will arise, when the laughable excuse for "justice" now monopolized by the Federal Government is dissolved. Already arbiters are hard at productive work where that monopoly does not exclude them, and that industry will grow, to the extent that disputes arise from unfulfilled contracts.

Such free capitalist enterprise will produce an explosion in prosperity that the world has never seen.
